About Army Fit Ilkley
We are Ilkley's longest running bootcamp providing outdoor fitness classes with a focus on getting the most out of yourself in a fun and supportive environment – whatever your fitness level. Our instructors are motivated to help you achieve your goals and work with recruits from all fitness levels. Whether you are training for a specific event, wanting to keep fit, shed a few pounds, or coming back from an injury Army Fit Ilkley is the bootcamp for you.
  Our Sessions
We always ensure that all sessions are varied and make use of Ilkley’s spectacular landscape. Each session lasts for one hour and will include a warm up, high intensity cardio and strength training, and a cool down with stretches. The sessions are broken down into ability levels – based on our Fitness Assessments - so we welcome anyone from fitness rookies to exercise veterans to give it a go.

We don’t like to give away too much information about our sessions so you cannot anticipate how each will unfold, but we only use the environment we are presented with as our equipment – just like the Army often have to. Nature has provided all the circuits we will ever need. Each instructor (all of which are either ex-military or personal trainers – including a Level 4 GP Referral qualified instructor, and a Health and Nutrition qualified instructor), will always put their own twist on the session.

  Types of Excercise
The types of exercises we will ask you to do are mainly body-weight exercises, but here are a few examples of different exercises performed during sessions:
  • star jumps
  • squats
  • press ups
  • burpees
  • short distance running
  • competitive games
  • boxercise
  • hill sprints

  What to Bring
You don’t need any special kit when attending an Army Fit session. An old t-shirt and shorts or tracksuit is ideal along with a pair of trainers. You can always give any additional layers to the instructor. You will be handed an Army Fit bib at the start of your session to wear.

Some exercises involve getting down on the ground so be prepared to get at least a little bit dirty - it's part of the fun. Unfortunately, we can't guarantee the weather but we can guarantee that you'll be sweating by the end of each session. We recommend having a warm top to put on after the session has finished. In the winter months we suggest wearing gloves and a hat.

Water is also provided during the session, so you do not need to bring your own. You can also hand any valuables to the instructor on arrival (please not that Army Fit cannot be held responsible should any valuables get lost).

  Social Events
At Army-Fit the social side is as important as the fitness and we run regular nights out, activity days and have completed the Tough Mudder Yorkshire challenge where the team worked together to encourage and support each other to complete the gruelling 12-mile route.
If you want to improve your fitness, achieve a set goal or just get out and about in Ilkley whilst meeting some new people, come along and try us out. You can attend a free trial session before deciding whether you want to sign up. Click here for more details.

  Additional Services
We always work with recruits to help them achieve their goals and can offer nutritional advice or one-to-one sessions to help them along the way.

In addition to this, we are able to offer bespoke sessions for new recruits. This can include preparing for a big event for example a wedding, small group training sessions or children’s birthday parties. Please email us with any enquiries.
