Do I need to be fit to attend a session?
Simply put no, not at all. Army Fit sessions are suitable for all fitness levels, from complete beginners to elite athletes, both male and females and young or not so young.
All sessions are designed to allow you to perform to your ability... you choose how hard you work!
Army Fit sessions are planned and structured so that there is no fastest or slowest, strongest or weakest...you are simply in competition with yourself.
  Can I just turn up to a session?
Please email us to inform us of your interest. We will then send you a health questionnaire to complete before your session.
  What is involved in a typical Army Fit session?
We always ensure that all sessions are varied and make use of Ilkley’s spectacular landscape. Each session lasts for one hour and will include a warm up, high intensity cardio and strength training, and a cool down with stretches. The sessions are broken down into ability levels – based on our Fitness Assessments - so we welcome anyone from fitness rookies to exercise veterans to give it a go.

We don’t like to give away too much information about our sessions so you cannot anticipate how each will unfold, but we only use the environment we are presented with as our equipment – just like the Army often have to. Nature has provided all the circuits we will ever need. Each instructor (all of which are either ex-military or personal trainers – including a Level 4 GP Referral qualified instructor, and a Health and Nutrition qualified instructor), will always put their own twist on the session.
  What do I need to bring?
The first thing you need to bring is your Army Fit attitude and mindset to give it 100% focus and to hit every target that you set for yourself.
You don’t need any special kit when attending an Army Fit session. An old t-shirt and shorts or tracksuit is ideal, with trainers. You can always give any additional layers to the instructor. You will be handed an Army Fit bib at the start of your session to wear.

Some exercises involve getting down on the ground so be prepared to get at least a little bit dirty - it's part of the fun. Unfortunately, we can't guarantee the weather but we can guarantee that you'll be sweating by the end of each session. We recommend having a warm top to put on after the session has finished. In the winter months we suggest wearing gloves and a hat.

Water is also provided during the session, so you do not need to bring your own. You can also hand any valuables to the instructor on arrival.
